If you encounter an issue while updating the firmware on your Halliday G2, find the message you see below and follow the corresponding troubleshooting steps.
During the firmware update, keep the Halliday App open and running in the foreground to help prevent interruptions.
"Unable to Transfer" While "System update in progress" Is Displayed
If “Unable to Transfer” appears on the Firmware Update page while your glasses remain on the “System update in progress” screen, the firmware transfer may have been interrupted by wireless network interference.
Please try the following:
- Restart the glasses by pressing and holding the Power button for 12 seconds.
- Completely close the Halliday App, including from the background, then reopen it.
- Wait for the glasses to reconnect to the Halliday App.
- Return to the Firmware Update page and try the firmware update again.
If the same message appears again, repeat the steps above. It may take more than one attempt to complete the update successfully.
During the update, keep the Halliday App open and running in the foreground.
"Unable to Join Network" or "Unable to Transfer" During the Update
During a firmware update, you may encounter either of the following:
- Your phone displays “Unable to Join Network” when prompted to connect to the glasses' Wi-Fi.
- After connecting to the glasses' Wi-Fi, the Halliday App displays “Unable to Transfer”, while the glasses remain on the “System update in progress” screen.
These issues may be caused by wireless network interference.
Before retrying the update, check the following:
- VPN: If a VPN is enabled on your phone, turn it off.
- Calls or music: If your phone is on a call or playing audio, end the call or stop playback.
If neither applies, follow these steps:
- Force restart the glasses by pressing and holding the Power button for 12 seconds.
- Completely close the Halliday App from the background.
- Restart your phone.
- Reopen the Halliday App and wait for the glasses to reconnect.
- Go to the Firmware Update page and try the update again.
Keep the Halliday App open and running in the foreground until the update is complete.
"Unable to Install" After the Firmware Update Is Completed
If your glasses display “Firmware update successful” or have already returned to the Dashboard, but the Firmware Update page in the Halliday App shows “Unable to Install,” the firmware may already have been installed successfully.
This can happen if the confirmation from the glasses is interrupted while being transmitted back to the Halliday App, preventing the App from updating the firmware status correctly.
Follow the steps below in order. After each step, check the Firmware Update page. If it displays “Up to date,” no further action is needed.
Step 1: Refresh the Connection in the App
- Tap the back button in the upper-left corner of the Firmware Update page to return to the Device page.
- Pull down on the Device page and release when the gear icon appears at the top to refresh the connection.
- Return to the Firmware Update page and check whether it displays “Up to date.”
Step 2: Reconnect via Bluetooth
If the status has not updated:
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings and forget or remove the glasses.
- Return to the Halliday App.
- Pull down on the Device page and release when the gear icon appears to refresh the connection.
- Return to the Firmware Update page and check the status again.
Step 3: Unpair and Re-pair the Glasses
If the issue continues:
- Perform Unpair & Reset using either of the following methods:
- In the App: Go to Settings > Unpair & Reset.
- On the glasses: Tap and slide the Touch Bar on the right temple to open App List > Settings, then select Unpair & Reset.
- If the glasses are stuck on the “Firmware Update Successful” screen, tap the Touch Bar on the right temple once to enter the Dashboard first, then follow the steps above.
- Pair the glasses with the Halliday App again.
If the glasses remain on the “Firmware Update Successful” screen, tap the Touch Bar on the right temple once to return to the Dashboard before selecting Unpair & Reset.
For iOS users: After unpairing the glasses, also go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and forget the glasses before pairing them again.
After re-pairing, return to the Firmware Update page and confirm that the status displays “Up to date.”
